here was an interesting focus at this year’s Metallurgical Coal Producers

Association conference: an acceptance that the reduction of greenhouse

gas emissions is a political certainty, but a promise that this challenge –

like many others facing industry – can be solved by the advancement of

technology, some of which is ready for commercial deployment.

“I think the essence of it all is the technology

is going to be central to solving problems. The

industry’s participation in that solution is absolutely critical, as it

has always been, but I think everyone now recognizes that we’re

in a new world, and we’re moving forward, and we’re going to

be leaders in that,” said
